"The KJGT is unlike any other junior golf tour in this region because it is just that; a tour. It is not a series of 3-4 one day tournaments spread throughout the summer. It is a well designed, fully functional golf tour modeled very closely to that of a professional golf tour and will focus on one goal; develop the future of junior golf in our region."

The Mission
The mission of the KJGT is this:
"Develop golf's future by providing young golfers in Kansas and the surrounding areas an opportunity to play in competitive and prestigious tournaments, all the while learning real world values and maintaining respect for the game."
A strong mission statement, but a vivid portrayal of the goals and objectives the KJGT works toward every day. This tour will be like no other junior golf program in this area in that it keeps in mind one thing; the player. The KJGT was created by Brent Parsons, a former junior golfer himself, in 2009 because he saw the need for a competitive, well run, prestigious junior circuit in Kansas and the
surrounding areas. While there have always been opportunities to travel out of state for larger tournaments that can offer more exposure for the junior golfer, the KJGT finally brings that "professional tour" atmosphere and first class experience to Kansas for the first time.
The Tour
The Kansas Junior Golf Tour offers membership to any male and female golfers ages 12-22 who are looking to compete in a highly competitive tour atmosphere during the months of May, June, July, and August. The KJGT will recognize two age groups, 12-14 and 15-18, as part of the "junior amateur" division, but will also offer an "amateur" division for those members in the 19-22 age group. Extending membership to the 19-22 age group is just one other service the KJGT provides its members to assist them in their journey to educational and athletic success.
Each tournament will award the top competitors in each of the three age divisions, but will also award the overall top finishers in the "junior amateur" division. The season long points race will follow the same format above as well. The opportunity to compete "up" to a higher age group is available to each member and can be discussed more in depth on the KJGT Divisions page. Also, you can find more information regarding petitions for membership for those younger than 12 years old.

Brent grew up in Kingman, KS and has loved and played golf ever since he was old enough to swing a club. When you talk with him it is obvious he shares that love and enthusiam for the game with everyone he meets. While playing in junior tournaments as a youngster, Brent was
preparing himself for success on his high school golf team while always keeping in mind a college career. While summer junior golf did help him stay competitve, there was just not enough tournaments in this region to gain the amount of experience he was looking for, and more importantly gain the amount of exposure to college coaches necessary for success. After high school Brent moved to Wichita, KS to attend Newman University and to be a member of Newman Jets Men's Golf Team. While at Newman, Brent was able to play in tournaments all around the region allowing him to interact with other college golfers and learn about their junior golf careers and programs. It was apparent after those interactions that something needed to be done about the lack resources available to those junior golfers in Kansas and the surrounding areas who strived to play in competitive summer golf tournaments and prepare themselves for a college career.Brent's vision for the KJGT and where it will go in the future is something to be excited about. Sit down with him for 5 minutes and you will understand his passion and drive to make the KJGT the premier junior golf tour in the state, region, and eventually the U.S. so that junior golfers can have every resource available to them to achieve professional success. Brent attributes much of his passion and drive to his wife, Kimberly. If they aren't outside with their two dogs, you will probably find them on the golf course! Please feel free to contact Brent with any questions, concerns, ideas, or even if you just want to chat. He could talk about golf 24 hours a day if someone wanted to, so shoot him an email or give him a call anytime!

KJGT Tournaments
All KJGT season events were designed to provide each competitor first class service, strong competition, and a professional tour experience. Every KJGT event is at least a 36 hole, two day tournament giving each competitor the opportunity to score more than just one 18 hole round and allowing consistent, steady play to be rewarded over the course of each tournament. Along with the normal, 36 hole two day events, the KJGT schedule will also provide 4 major championships throughout the season. Three of the four majors will be 54 hole, three day events with no 36 hole cut; The KJGT Masters, The KJGT Open, and The KJGT British Open. That means every competitor will have the opportunity to experience and compete in these three major championships in their entirety. The fourth and final major championship of the season will be the KJGT Tour Championship, a four day 72 hole event with a cut coming after the first two rounds. Entry into the Tour Championship will be open to all members and therefore is not an invitational tournament. Offering a full, competitive, and fair schedule to its members is what the KJGT strives for. Depending on the type of event, each tournament will award a certain number of points to the finishers for the season long race for KJGT Player of the Year.
What to Expect
Each KJGT event will be unique in itself, but here is a brief example of the experience you can expect to receive at each KJGT tournament during the season.
Normal 2 Day, 36 Hole EventsAn opportunity for a practice round and player registration at the host venue will be available the day before the first round of these events, as well as all other KJGT events. A player is not required to complete a practice round or complete registration the day before the event, but it is always in a competitor's best interest to scout the course they are about to compete upon. The first round will commence the morning of the day it is scheduled with players going off of the first, and sometimes tenth, tee boxes. After the scores are compiled following the completion of the first round, tee times for the second and final round will be generated and made available the evening before the final round at the host venue, local motels, and the KJGT website.Following completion of the second and final round, an awards presentation will be made to the top finishers. Also, after both the first and final rounds, player interview sessions will be available to KJGT and all present media.3 Day, 54 Hole Major ChampionshipsFirst and second round pairings and tee times will have already been determined prior to the Major Championships. Following the completion of the first round, a social event will be held that evening at a location at or near the tournament venue for all competitors and family. Once the second round has been completed, the scores will be compiled and the final round tee times and pairings will be made available as stated above.Following completion of each of the three rounds interview sessions will be available to all media, and an awards presentation will follow completion of the third and final round.4 Day, 72 Hole KJGT Tour ChampioshipFirst and second round pairings will be determined in advance for this Championship as well, and following the second round a cut will be made to advance a certain number of competitors in the field. The KJGT is open to all male and female golfers ages 12-22. With that large of a range in ages, the KJGT divided the tour into two divisions: Amateur and Junior Amateur. Both the male and female divisions will be designed identically, so the descriptions below will be the same for both.Junior AmateurThe KJGT Junior Amateur division is made up of all competitors ages 12-17 years old. Every competitor in the Junior Amateur division will play from the same tees and compete in the season long points race for KJGT Player of the Year - Junior Amateur Division. This division, however, will also have two sub-divisions in itself consisting of two age groups; 12-14 and 15-17. While the main focus remains on the Player of the Year points race in the Junior Amateur division, competitors will also compete for awards in their respective age group listed above. Aside from the KJGT Tour Championship, each tour event will award the top overall finishers in the Junior Amateur division, as well as the top finishers in the 12-14 and 15-17 age groups. Unlike the Junior Amateur division, the Amateur division will not award two separate age groups within itself, but instead one overall champion in the division at each tournament. Members of the amateur division will also be competing against each other in the season long points race for KJGT Player of Year - Amateur Division.

Age Group/Division Determination
The age group/division in which a KJGT competitor will compete in will be determined by their age the day of the first round of the first KJGT event of the season. For example, if a competitor's 18th birthday takes place on 5/15/11 and the first round of the first KJGT season event falls on 5/14/11, that person will compete in the Junior Amateur Division for the entire season since he/she was 17 years old when the season began.
Petitions to "Play Up" a Division
If at any time during the season a member under the age of 18 wishes to "play up" from the Junior Amateur to Amateur division, they may file a petition to do so with the KJGT. Pending approval, the member may then compete in the Amateur division at all remaining KJGT events. However, the member will forfeit any player of the year points they had accumulated in the Junior Amateur division at that point, and will then start from zero in the Amateur Division. Also, once approved to play up to the Amateur division, the member must remain in that division the remainder of the year; he/she may not petition to return to the Junior Amateur Division until the following season.Petitions for KJGT membership for those under the age of 12 may also be made, and pending approval the KJGT may grant he/she KJGT membership and the ability to compete in the Junior Amateur Division. Approvals will usually only be granted when petitions are accompanied by documented proof of the junior's ability to compete at that level.
